Greenwood is a city in Clark County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,079 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.4 km²), of which, 2.8 square miles (7.3 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.05%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 1,079 people, 468 households, and 287 families residing in the city. The population density was 381.9 people per square mile (147.2/km²). There were 502 housing units at an average density of 177.7/sq mi (68.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.17% White, 0.19% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.11% of the population.

There were 468 households out of which 27.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.5% were non-families. 34.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the city the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.9 males.
