According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.3 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 1,009 people, 425 households, and 282 families residing in the village. The population density was 413.0 people per square mile (159.7/km²). There were 434 housing units at an average density of 177.7/sq mi (68.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.92% White, 0.50% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.10% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.59% of the population.

There were 425 households out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the village the population was spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
